About Business Action Steps

Business Action Steps is a blog where I outline what I am doing with my online business. My goal is to be able to quit my job and generate enough income to comfortably live while giving generously to good causes, and to do it all honorably and with the utmost integrity.

I’ve restarted this blog several times (most recently on September 4, 2009) because I started doing things that didn’t sit well with me. My goals are to help people and provide more value than I receive in return. Combine this with my desire to do things honorably and you end up with somebody (me!) who won’t do a lot of things that other marketers do.

My goals:

* Only promote products that represent a tremendous value and that I use and fully explain why I find them useful. I will, on occasion, promote products that were created by people I trust that I do not own and/or have not seen.

This means that I’m probably not your ideal joint venture (JV) partner because I’m very picky about the products I promote; either that or I have to see it first (and have ample time to fully evaluate it before I promote it).

* Provide incredible value for free on my various blogs.

* Provide premium versions of what I provide for free, but at a very reasonable price. I do this to help further explain complex subjects in a way that is easier to learn (i.e. through screen capture videos), which will better help you.

* Create and promote products that will help people.

Who am I? I’m Tom Brownsword, a certified computer security professional. I hold four computer security certifications (CISSP, GCIA, Security+, and ITIL V3 Foundations). I also like to help people and work to find ways to make security work for you (instead of against you — and your customers).

While I’m not religious, I do my best to live my life the way that Jesus of Nazareth laid out. I have my doubts about the Bible (specifically about the motivations behind the people that decided that only 66 books were “divinely inspired”); nevertheless, I have chosen to believe that God reveals himself to man through the Bible. I am converting to what is known as the “Full Gospel”, namely, that Jesus not only saves us and restores our proper relationship with God, but that he also heals us and that God’s Spirit fills us and controls our lives. This filling manifests itself in many ways, to include the supernatural ability to communicate in a foreign language, but most importantly by enabling us to help others. So it’s my goal to follow Jesus’ example, let God’s Spirit fill me, and have this filling make itself known by helping others — including you. I’ll know if I’m successful by the material blessings that God sends my way. I also have an obligation to use them wisely, to help others and to live my life so that others will be encouraged to follow Jesus’ example.

Thanks for joining me on this journey (and please keep in mind that it is a “journey”; don’t take what you read on this blog as tried and tested advice. It’s not, for the most part; it’s just one sojourner documenting his travels).
