I’m a sucker for a good sales pitch. Are you? If so, then please sign up for my mailing list…
Seriously, I’m in a position where I can purchase a lot of products (bright, shiny objects!), and every once in a while, I might actually finish a project and talk about it on this blog (like Definite Income Plan, which I started talking about in my last post. It’s getting there, but more and more shiny objects keep appearing!). Beyond that, though, there are a lot of products that I DON’T buy because buying a lot of products has given me a pretty good nose for what’s good and what’s not (to put it nicely). A quick glance at a sales letter for an Internet Marketing product will usually tell me if it’s worth the electrons that the thing is printed on.
But sometimes I don’t even bother reading the sales letter; I buy it simply because of the person behind the product (notice that I did NOT say, “The person promoting the product.” — there’s a HUGE difference). As you can well imagine, my “buy the person” list is pretty darn short. There are a lot of good people who aren’t on that list, and to be honest, I still reserve the right to not purchase something from somebody on that list.
One of the people on that list is John Rhodes. I first heard of John over at the Warrior forum (it was your fonts that got me, John!). But the things I did purchase from him (and his brother, Matt) were straightforward and to the point. They always seem to deliver on their promises — a rare thing nowadays.
After getting the opportunity to meet John at a conference last year (we were both speakers), I came away with the impression that John’s products contain the stuff that is working for him. And while I don’t think that he’s incapable of lying, I also think that he is refreshingly honest (and if he holds back a trick or two, who can blame him?). And if you’ve ever purchased any of his products, you know that he delivers solid value.
That’s why I purchased Juggernaut SEO as soon as the email popped into my Inbox. John is conducting a series of “live” webinars over the next few weeks to go over some SEO stuff that is working for him. Right now.
Nice.
Now I’ve already mentioned that John always tries to deliver solid value when he creates and sells products. I’ve come to expect it. But what happened last night during the first webinar was way over the top.
If my faulty memory serves me correctly, John said that he is going to do four webinars, one week apart, as a part of this course. Normally you expect a webinar to last an hour — or maybe two — at the most. So if the average webinar lasts 1.5 hours, you’d expect about 6 hours of webinar time throughout the course, right?
Last night’s session lasted — get ready for this — and remember that this was just the FIRST webinar in the series:
Five and a half hours. That’s 30 minutes short of what most people might expect for the whole course.
And it wasn’t filled with worthless drivel. At least I don’t think it was! I can attest that the first couple of hours were solid content; after that, John wore me out and I had to go to bed (I’m a very early riser, which means I also go to bed early). But knowing John, I’m pretty sure that the part I didn’t hear was just as good as the part that I did hear.
Now here’s the funny part about the whole thing. John hasn’t even bothered to put anything yet on the home page of the site. Go ahead, check it out; there’s a link to it further up in this post… Click on it and you’re taken to one of those “This domain is cheerfully hosted at BlueHost” messages (or something like that).
(HYPE ALERT!) I guess John is so busy preparing and providing solid content for this course that he hasn’t even bothered to put up a sales letter for the thing yet! (END HYPE ALERT)
OK, that last sentence was over the top a bit (in case you missed the “HYPE ALERT” indicator…). John is far too careful to overlook any detail (short of buying good beer). John revealed a lot about his background that I never knew before during the first webinar, and all I’ll say here is that he is one interesting bird. It’s great stuff — at least for me — because it helps me understand him better and helps validate some conclusions I’ve come to about him (basically, he’s my hero because he recently quit his government contractor day job, so he has done what I want to do).
And the stuff he pointed out is also extremely useful for business. The whole thing helped feed my hypothesis that most successful online business people aren’t “ordinary people” — they are educated (whether it be in a formal institution of higher learning or self-taught), aren’t afraid of success, and are willing to work for it. In John’s case, it’s perfectly clear that he understands people and understands how things are supposed to work (and if you don’t think you qualify as one of “those people”, chances are pretty good that you are one of those people — because, at the very least, you are trying to honestly evaluate where you are instead of sticking your head in the sand and listening to the “anybody can do this!” hype).
So why am I saying all of this? Because I’m looking forward to listening to John ramble on for 5.5 hours over the weekend (seriously! He’s one of the few people that can keep my attention during a webinar, plus the part I did hear makes me want to hear more). John also sorta-kinda asked me to write this (in an indirect way) and I’m more than happy to help out a colleague (and friend). Yes, it’s a bit of a tease, but I almost positive that he’ll make it available again at some point… (Yeah, I know… “scarcity”, “social proof”, yada-yada… I don’t like that stuff when it’s done solely to sell stuff, but like I said, John is good people and his stuff is good stuff).
What’s in it for you? Why should you care about Juggernaut SEO, this blog post, and me? As I said above, I’m pretty sure that John will open this up again at some point, and if he does, I might even add a link to a sign-up page for the thing — and while there are still three sessions to go (and John has to “prove” himself, ha-ha!), I’m pretty sure that this might be a good course for you to consider if you need traffic for your website.
So watch this blog (and sign up for my email newsletter, especially if you’re a sucker for a good sales pitch!) and I’ll do my best to remember to give you a link to the course once John decides to open it up to more people (yes, I hope it will be an affiliate link because it will be a painless way for you to say “thanks” to me. Nothing out of your pocket; John writes ME a check. Neat, eh?). Assuming 5.5 hours of ANYBODY doesn’t do me irreparable harm… And I’m not blinded by some shiny object!
